South Australian cross-sections (in three parts): mega-fauna, red stump & finite vastness

South Australian cross-sections explores the concept of 'layerscapes'. A layerscape, is for me, a way of grappling with how the past continues to affect the present. Layerscapes are useful as like a tree's rings, studying these formations reveals evidence of what has gone before, what should not be forgotten, and even what may be coming. In this artworks three concentric cross-sections of multiple life forms merge; a body, tree, and the universe, all drawn from my region where minerals are tinged with green, caves and large eucalypts abound, and evidence has been found of mega-fauna giant kangaroo tails from up to 100,000 years ago.
